It’s been just over a year since we launched our car hire reviews section on ReduceMyExcess. In that time, we’ve received over a thousand reviews from customers describing their car hire company experiences!

We’re so grateful for all of your feedback (whether good, bad, or plain ugly!) and hope you’ll keep sharing your experiences to help your fellow travellers when it comes to choosing a car rental firm.

With the summer holidays fast approaching, we know many of you have already started scouting out the best deals for your holiday hire. So we thought now would be the perfect time to let you know how each car hire company has fared in the ratings table so far.

We asked how likely it was you would recommend your car hire company to a friend (on a scale of 0 to 10, with 0 being not at all likely and 10 extremely likely). We’ve included the average ratings below.

Note: the above scores were compiled at the start of this month and only include companies with a minimum of 50 reviews.

Enterprise is the company that has clearly impressed customers the most, with an average rating of 8.23. This was shortly followed by AVIS and Budget car hire – both level on a score of 8.03.

Commenting on Enterprise, one customer praised their ‘Friendly, efficient service both collecting and returning the vehicle’, before going on to applaud the fact there was ‘no hard sell on additional items’.

At the other end of the table, Green Motion was identified as the company customers are least likely to recommend, receiving a rating of just 3 by comparison. The rest of the bottom three was made up of InterRent on 4.17 and Goldcar on 4.38.

As always, our reviews demonstrate it’s worth choosing your car rental company very carefully. Remember, there can be huge differences in the level of service provided, and it may not always pay to go for the cheapest deal you can find!
